Graduate Student Assistant
Loan Deferral Information
Graduate Students and Loans
Graduate students (including those with fellowships) who have never gone into loan repayment, must be half-time to defer loan repayment: Ph.D. - 3 credits
Master's - 5 credits Graduate students, not on a graduate assistantship (but including those with fellowships) who have begun repayment in the past must be full-time to defer Federal loan repayment: Ph.D. - 6 credits
Master's - 9 credits Graduate students must be enrolled at least 1/2 time to be eligible for Federal loans: Ph.D. - 3 credits
Master's - 5 credits
Graduate Assistants and Loans
Graduate Assistants are reported by MSU as full-time as long as they meet the minimum registration required to have the assistantship to defer repayment: Ph.D. - 3 credits
Master's 6 credits Graduate Assistants must be enrolled as 1/2 time to be eligible for Federal loans: Ph.D. - 3 credits
Master's - 5 credits
